The Wedding Candle: A Perfect Gift for the Bride and Groom, as Well as the Guests
Candles are often involved in the most sacred events, especially weddings. The soft glow of a candlelight definitely makes for great ambiance, but there seems to be more than that. Perhaps it is a nostalgic harkening back to days when the nights were lit by flames alone, or parhaps the light has different meanings for people. Whatever the case may be, candles often make their way into ceremonies.
In the wedding ceremony, candles can serve several functions. In many churches, candles are lit, often representing Jesus as the light of the world. Many wedding ceremonies include unity candles as a beautiful symbol of the two becoming one. And there’s another role candles play in a wedding: gifts.
Commemorate their special day
If you’re at a loss as to what to get the bride and groom, maybe they’ve run out of gifts on their registry or you’d like to give something extra, or something special to commemorate the wedding, then consider wedding candles. Many places sell elaborately decorated white or ivory candles, often engraved or painted with lovely wedding scenes, and these are specifically designed for weddings. This is truly a lasting gift, I know it’s one of the gifts I still have from my wedding years ago, and will cherish it for a lifetime.
A meaningful gift for the guests
Wedding favors come in everything from candy to figurines to candles, and candles seem to be a popular favorite. If you’re looking for a traditional and symbolic favor, consider giving your guests a favor consisting of five candles representing health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and longevity. This is a custom of certain cultures around the world, and you can describe the meaning with a little note in the favor or on the table.
However you decide to incorporate them, candles are sure to fit in well with the wedding ceremony.
